What Are The Types Of Cockroaches That Invade My Home?
If living outdoors, roaches thrive and could actually cause no harm. They are found all over the planet, but not in hostile environments. Of the over four thousand identified species of cockroaches, three types prefer to live in places also inhabited by human beings, where they create havoc and misery.
Distinguishing these roaches could be the first step in irradication & control. It is pretty simple and can aid in extermination methods. Here are the three major common cockroaches.
American Cockroach
The American cockroach has a reddish brown color and single stripe on the head. It can grow up to 25mm in length. These roaches get easily attracted to liquor. Thus, they are frequently found in drinking establishments or at home after party where beer, wine and alcohol was present. They have a life span of up to 1 & half years. Their incubation period is from 6 to 8 weeks.
German Cockroach
These kinds of cockroach sport a brownish or tan color, and 2 lighter stripes on the back of its head. They can grow up to lengths of 15mm. It is probably breeds the fastest in comparison to its cousins, giving birth to around 30 to 40 nymphs with an incubation period of 30 days. That is relatively fast, seeing one of them can multiply to 30,000 within a year. These can live for around six months.
Oriental Cockroach
Among these three, the Oriental cockroach is probably the biggest. It grows approximately 25mm in length. They move more slowly than the other cockroaches and are a dark brown to black with a shiny body. They are often known as the “waterbug” since these creatures prefer dark, moist hiding places. They are potentially seen in damp mulch or cellars. The duration of incubation could be about two months with about 15 eggs hatching &; they can each live for up to 2 years.
