How to get rid of a double chin
Carrying an extra layer of fat just below the jaw gives you an extra chin – known as a “double chin”. You may have gotten it because your old and fat, you may have gotten it because your fat.
Double chins are not fussy – men and women get them. Some people even get a third chin! If you don’t want it to be noticeable – keep your mouth shut! Hey – since a double chin is more noticeable when your jaw is slack, by keeping your mouth shut it’s not as noticeable. And don’t look down either – it’s a dead give-away that you have more chins than you need.
Still trying to change your hairdo so that your chins are not so noticeable? Women – have you given up ponytails and pulling your hair back to hide your chin? Also ladies are you using makeup a shade darker on the chin area to try to minimize it? Have you given up wearing chokers and tight necklaces and dangly earring or low turtlenecks because they don’t flatter a flabby neck? Men – are you wearing open-neck shirts without ties and wearing higher collars to hide your chin?
Double chins can be inherited – that’s for sure. But – have you exercised your neck enough so that you don’t get a double chin? Exercising will help – but it’s not a cure.
Simply tilt your head to the left; using your right hand, apply a bit of pressure to the back of your head (not enough to cause any pain) – just enough to provide some resistance when you bring your head back to a normal (centered) position. Repeat to the right. This simple exercise can be done at any time and can be done anywhere.
Tip your head back and “chew” forcing the pull in the chin area. If you are overweight – chew with no food in your mouth.
Have you checked your posture lately? Slouching accentuates a double chin! Stand straight and tall – it straightens the neck and pulls any neck wattles (turkey neck – loose skin hanging like a wattle). Try smiling more – that exercises the facial muscles and pulls your neck tight.
While your at it, if you are overweight, lose it. Boost your metabolism too while your at it. You will feel and look much better. Check with your physician and discuss a sensible diet and exercises that you can do. He can also check for possible fluid you may have around the chin area and may even prescribe a diuretic.
Just a note – reducing or eliminating neck fat will prevent sleep apnea – and sleep apnea (if not treated) can lead to circulatory problems and even death.
For a price (and it is costly), you can allow a doctor to attack with scalpals (right near the jugular vein may I add) and opt for a cosmetic chin lift. Botox injections, Iiposuction, a cervicoplasty to remove the excess skin, a platysmaplasty to remove or alter neck muscles or any combination of these will help. Just remember that these are “cosmetic” surgeries which will need to paid out of pocket – they are not covered by insurance.
